Becoming Catholic
R.C.I.A.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
"Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple,
and breaking bread from house to house,
they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,
praising God and having favor with the people.
And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved."
Acts 2:46
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is designed for adults who wish to become full members of the Catholic Church. The RCIA process is for non-Catholics who wish to become Catholic and for those Catholics who have been baptized, but have not received First Communion or Confirmation. Programs usually begin in September or October and end a few weeks after Easter.

Ever since the Magi found the Christ Child in His Mother's arms on the first Epiphany, many men, women, and children have searched for Christ and have found Him within the protective, motherly arms of the One, Holy, catholic, and Apostolic Church. For those who have found the Church, it is important for them learn our Catholic Faith in order for them to fully understand and appreciate the gifts that they will receive through the Sacraments that initiate them into the full Mystical Body of Christ.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) serves to instruct those who desire to enter the Catholic Faith and into the great teachings, firm beliefs, and beautiful and timeless traditions of the Church. Through excellent catechesis, the converts and reverts are prepared to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at the glorious Easter Vigil. In addition to formation and catechesis, this also brings an opportunity for those who are finding the road home to the Church to have companions for help along the journey. Many times, the questions and insights of fellow converts may also help to clarify any concerns or questions that you may have. This also provides for the opportunity for any prospective converts to be integrated into the life of the Parish of Saint Michael the Archangel as they are instructed and invited to various elements and liturgical functions at the Parish.

If you are interested in becoming Catholic, or if you are Catholic and have not made all of your Sacraments of Initiation, please contact the Parish Office to obtain more information about the RCIA Program. You can also download the RCIA application at the button below.

RCIA meets every Sunday at 11:30 am in the Nativity Church's on-property Conference Center.
